With its move to Koha, the SWITCH Library Consortium began to use OCLC’s EZProxy for remote access to electronic resources. Remote authentication with EZProxy allows libraries to create direct links to licensed resources for community use both on and off-campus — access to such resources are then available inside and outside your institution’s IP address range. Inside of your campus IP address range, the patron is automatically redirected to the resource. Outside of the IP address range, the patron is prompted to log in using a library-specific TOPCAT login screen. The patron is then redirected to the resource at that point.
As of 2/2018, SWITCH is currently running EZProxy 6.2.2 which came out in 2017. (Ubuntu 16 LTS). SWITCH plans to upgrade to 6.3.5 in the summer of 2018.
